It opens with a sharp, joyful rush — the bite of winter air hitting your face the second school lets out, clementine peels tumbling from coat pockets, the ghost of pencil shavings on your fingertips for the very last time in two weeks. The heart settles into the living room: a beeswax candle guttering beside a decorated fir, cocoa steaming on the counter, the radiator coaxing warmth from damp wool mittens. The base is pure contentment — woodsmoke and tonka bean, the smell of a house that has nowhere to be, wrapping around you like a childhood blanket you never quite outgrew.
